Q. Does the recommender listed on the application form need to be the university president?
A. No. The recommender may be the head of the applicant's department, division, or laboratory.
Q. What expenses are eligible for grant funding?
A. Grant funds may be used for expenses necessary to conduct the research, including: ①Equipment and supplies ②Consumables ③Travel expenses ④Research assistance and fieldwork support ⑤Other expenses (e.g., printing, communications, meetings, books, facility usage fees, academic society membership fees, and conference registration fees) Grant funds may not be used for personnel expenses of the applicant or co-researchers (including salaries and social insurance costs), indirect costs, common institutional expenses, or administrative overhead.
Q. Is supporting documentation required for the Budget Plan Form?
A. Supporting quotations are not required. However, applicants are encouraged to provide a breakdown of expenses and the basis for their calculations whenever possible. If the figures are estimates at the time of application, please indicate this accordingly. Detailed actual expenditures must be reported in the Financial Report submitted upon completion of the grant period.
