Background and Founding Purpose
The Kondo Memorial Foundation traces its origins to the late Teruhisa Kondo, founder of Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd. Deeply concerned that academically talented students might be unable to continue their education due to financial difficulties, he established the Kondo Scholarship Foundation and began providing scholarships to students in his hometown of Kagawa Prefecture.
Since then, the Foundation has expanded its scholarship programs to support students in the Kansai and Kanto regions.
Following its certification as a Public Interest Incorporated Foundation, the organization adopted its current name, the Kondo Memorial Foundation.
It is a great source of pride and encouragement for us to see former scholarship recipients making valuable contributions across a wide range of fields.
We remain committed to further enhancing our support for students and helping them realize their full potential.
In 2014, under the philosophy of Toyo Tanso Co., Ltd., a co-founder of the Foundation, “Fascinated by Carbon and Its Infinite Possibilities,” we launched a Research Grant Program to support research related to carbon.
The Foundation is also dedicated to supporting young researchers engaged in original and innovative studies.
Through the development of individuals who contribute to society and the advancement of academic research, the Kondo Memorial Foundation strives to contribute to the progress and prosperity of society.
